This is something that hasn't cross my mind for a long time: playing DVD movie on the Sony Playstation 2. Previously I have no problem playing DVD movies because the unit is still original and still un-modded. However, I realized this new unit contain a Messiah 2.0 chipset.
What is a Messiah 2.0 Chipset?
Messiah 2.0 Chipset is used to play backup/crack/pirated games on a PS2.
So, basically the Playstation 2 doesn't have any problem playing standard Playstation 2 games. That is until when you try to put in a DVD movie. The system will read the disc and then stop the spinning. I jumped on
Google and look for answers but failed to do so. The usual forum usually just said
"Deactivate the Messiah and everything should work fine"
Feeling a little discourage, I'm still determined to get to the bottom of this. I started to go through most of the underground forums and after 2 day & night search, I found the answer. In fact the answer is so simple that I nearly smack my head for not figuring it out for the last 2 years or so. All you need to do is the switch off the system and hold the power key for 5 seconds.
I told some of my Playstation 2 owners friends and they laugh at it too. They've been figuring out like almost a year without any indication to read DVDs. Even the shop owners are not aware of the correct steps!
