My words are my thoughts and I'm a pessimist person who just thinks that Murphy's Law is what defines me. I believe that anything bad that has ever happened will continue to do so. So, if anything just cannot go wrong, it will anyway...

It looks like a bunch of garbled text, huh? Well, you can actually learn how to decode using by reading this post.

If you hate challenges, you might want to try jlys@[remove-this]tm.net.my but I only used this sparingly as it's the primary target for junk mails.

 DivX Stuff

Okay, this is not meant for the public audience but rather of a reminder to myself on what to check on during a conversion of any movies to DivX.

Filters (in order):
1. Deinterlace (mode: blend)
2. Crop
3. Resize (size & method adjust accordingly)

Make sure resize follows the DivX standard of 16 multiplier. E.g:

1. 720 x 480 -> 640 x ...
2. Formula: 720 / 640 = 480 / Z
3. Algebraic transfer: Z = 480 * 640 / 720 = 426.667
4. Check the nearest 16 multiplier: 416 (10 pixel) > 426.667 > 432 (6 pixel)
5. 720 x 480 -> 640 x 432 (we take the smallest pixel difference)

DivX Configuration:
1. Encode Performance: Slow
2. Bitrate: 1022 (for small screen devices) / 2044 (for notebooks or desktops)
3. Off for all: Psychovisual Enhancement, Enable Crop & Enable Resize
4. Source Preprocessing: Light none
5. Interlacing: Progressive Source
6. Scene change threshold: 50%
7. Max Keyframe interval: 300
8. Quantization type: H.263
