My words are my thoughts and I'm a pessimist person who just thinks that Murphy's Law is what defines me. I believe that anything bad that has ever happened will continue to do so. So, if anything just cannot go wrong, it will anyway...

It looks like a bunch of garbled text, huh? Well, you can actually learn how to decode using by reading this post.

If you hate challenges, you might want to try jlys@[remove-this]tm.net.my but I only used this sparingly as it's the primary target for junk mails.

 Enter The Phoenix

Can't believe I watched two shows at the same time, even during while working! A funny show but yet a very nicely directed show by Stephen Fung. It has lots of stars in the movie, cameos and the scripts are witty and funny. I kind of lost my hopes with Hong Kong movies since Running Out of Time (1999) and La Brassiere (2001) but this show has a lot of going:

  • The real main boss-to-be is gay (3rd from right)
  • The immitating boss-to-be isn't gay but has to admit he is (3rd from left)
  • Complicated matters between Triads
  • Triad bloodwork
  • Love story between family (Romeo & Juliet-like story)
  • A funny relationship between father and son (far right & far left)
  • Stephen Fung (2nd from right) debut as a director of the movie

Basically there is to know about the movie. All were mixed and matched equally in the show till it produces a very nice flow of story. A definate must. Why I praised so much of the show is that most of the plot/flow are original. Although they do contain the pulp culture of Hong Kong society, it's nonetheless still original and doesn't try to imitate any new movies. Although there is a Matrix-like fighting scene, but hey, but who popularized kung-fu movies at the first place? At least it brings out the my faith back into the Hong Kong movies again.
